Dog aggression behavior towards cats
Cats and dogs have been rivals since they started competing for people's attention. Although any puppy lover will argue that dogs must get the lion's share of the consideration, treats and rewards, everybody agrees that cats and dogs have to obtain along when they live within the exact same house.
If you're having issues with dog aggression toward your cat, try the following.
Leave It
Teach your dog a reliable leave it or no command. Any time he starts taking as well much of an interest from the cat, instruct him to leave it.
No Free Lunch
Work on leadership exercises to make sure that your dog is earning each of the treats and consideration he gets. Make him do something great before he gets a reward.
Totally free Lunch
Be prepared with tasty treats and reward your canine any time he is calm when the cat's close to. So if you're sitting within the living room with him and the cat comes in, give him a treat if he stays cool.
Performing this builds positive connections in his mind toward the cat, which makes it much more likely within the future that he will be turning to you and looking for a reward instead of terrorizing the cat.
Establish the Pack Hierarchy: Set clear, consistent guidelines after which it enforces them each of the time. Claim the top spot for yourself and correct any behavior by your puppy or cat that may be unwanted.
So if your cat likes to hiss at the dog after which hide behind you, use a squirt bottle to spray him with water. Likewise, if the canine likes to hover close to the cat's dish, keeping him away from dinner, intervene and tell your puppy to go away. Clear, fair rules are appreciated by pets (well, by dogs...) as it lets them know what's expected. These are some of the ways on handling dog aggression towards cats.
